new showreel

hey this is my new show reel which is on my new web page www.skywhale.weebly.com the page is very skywhale orinatated which ive sort of branded myself with for the time being. its a collection of my best work set to music by Forgery Lit who i am also directing a music video for.

changes

as we continued to work for the group project at uni the idea kept becomming more and more elaberate so before it could get any worse our director Nicole Martin desided to strip the idea down to the bear minimum keeping the few things we all agreed on. the idea became a dance and we kept our tunnel but instead of a vine coverd tunnel it became a rusted looking frame/stage for the lovers to dance in. here is an example of the choreography theat we (mainly Nicole) put togeather that is now acting as our animatic

the film calls itself bunker but after much discussion it was changed to ''War Torn'' as we plan to add war related sound to sujest the idea the male dancer is leaving her to go to war 

ninjary lawyers for you

this is the work i had from my pitch that wasn't chosen Ninjary lawyers for you, the idea was a accident lawyers advert mock with the tag line 'have you been in an accident while at work?...as a ninja' followed but a blooper reel of different accident that can happen to a ninja at work which climaxed in one ninja who mistakenly cuts off his own arms.

a while ago while i was still at college i made some illustrations for the play a midsummer night dream and iv been meaning to put them online for a while now so before i forget a second time.

second year group work

at uni recently we all pitched ideas to our year group tho i didnt have my idea choses i did join a very good group on a stop motion project based on klimt paintings and here are the two animatics iv made for these, the project is constantly changing so expect more 

i recently had a go at a photoshot version of sky whale think he looks rather good.

the maker

this trailer for the animated short the maker is really intriguing the puppet design is incredible reminds me of Tim Burton animations but looks more homemade. i find it really imaginative will post more when ive seen the whole short.

This is some work from an ongoing project i have called sky whale.

sky whale is about an unorthodox super hero who's power is to fall from the sky and literally crush crime

sky whale also has a generic super model wife and together they live on the moon

 

chinese new year animation

over the summer i have been working on a project as a favour for a friend of mines company i did it last year too but this year i had more time and i think a better understanding of animation. the project was a chinese new year e-card last year we went from year of the tiger to year of the rabbit and this year we go to year of the dragon.

essay proposal

for 30% of my grade this year i have to write a 3000 word essay on 2 professional shorts, for this essay ivechosen to look at 2 animations that i recently found and really like both with a theme of death (not too morbid though) the first is a short called 'how to cope with death' by Ignacio Ferraras and the other is a shor called 'farther and daughter' by Micheal Dudok De Wit.

i took these videos when i went to ethiopia in the end i animated a nondescript bird but these were ok as an example of take off and landing on an object.

i got the most out of watching things like this on you tube and then having a go and figureing it out.

this is my first take off line test i did this twice onece in ones and once in twos to see which looked better in the end i went with twos for the whole animation but im thinking of doing it again with a mixture of the two

these are from a project i recently finished, its a simple bird flight done in drawn 2d i also put up my vidieos for reasarch as well some of which are from my trip to ethiopia others are just clips from youtube i found very useful.

first stop motion project

here are a few stop motion things i did in the first term just a bit of cut paper and sand on glass, i really enjoyed doing this because it was pretty streight forward point and shoot work that you can play around with

just want to make sure i put these up, my first animations ive done at UWE :-) 
these are continuos clips originally for a zoetrope, at some point i will put up a few bits of work i did before UWE that was also for a zoetrope and a few that where done on pc but using windows movie maker so there a little bit jumpy but i like to think it gives them a bit of charicter.
